Classic Cocktails

Classic cocktails have a unique way of transporting us back in time, evoking a sense of nostalgia with every sip. These timeless drinks, often crafted with a few simple yet potent ingredients, carry with them stories of the past, echoing the elegance of speakeasies and the charm of old Hollywood. They remind us of an era where bartending was considered an art form, and every cocktail was a carefully balanced masterpiece.

Old Fashioned

1/4 ounce simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitter
2 ounces rye or bourbon
Orange twist
Combine Angostura bitters and simple syrup.
Add rye or bourbon. Stir. Add ice and stir until chilled and properly diluted, about 30 seconds.
Strain into an rocks glass and garnish with an orange twist.

Sidecar

2 ounces Cognac or brandy
1 ounce Cointreau
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
Superfine sugar
Orange or lemon wedge
Run the cut edge of a lemon around rim of glass; dip rim in superfine sugar. Combine remaining ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well until chilled, about 10 seconds. Strain into prepared glass; garnish with a wedge of orange or lemon.

The Bee’s Knees

½ ounce honey syrup
1 ounce lemon juice
2 ounces gin
For the honey syrup, combine equal parts honey and water in a small saucepan. Warm over the stovetop just until you can completely stir the honey into the water. Next, fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the cooled honey syrup, lemon juice, and gin. Shake until the mixture is very cold, about 30 seconds. Strain the drink into a coupe or w glass.
