As Covid continues on, you may or may not feel comfortable stepping back inside the gym where it’s possible you could be exposed to the virus. Regardless of whether you have or have not decided to take your fitness efforts back inside the gym, health concerns are always on the forefront of topics for our health and wellness column.

So, I would like to discuss some tips for staying fit from home and offering support as we all carry forward with taking care of ourselves during these unique circumstances.

First off, despite the popular new term “socially distancing,” I want to remind you this is more about physically distancing ourselves from each other, and not necessarily cutting all social ties. If you don’t feel safe hitting the gym or meeting up with a friend for a jog along the trail, you can still hold yourself accountable with a workout partner. Use technology to your advantage and be creative with how you communicate with one another. You can FaceTime during your workouts, use an app like MyFitnessPal to help each other track exercise and diet goals, or even stream workouts at the same time.

It’s also never a bad idea to go old-school: simply keeping a fitness journal during this time can go a long way to keeping you on track. Write down your goals at the beginning of each week and then keep up with what you do daily. Phone-a-friend every few days and share how you’re making progress. Sometimes the simplest solutions can offer the biggest returns.

Find your own daily motivation that inspires you to get moving! Seeing others’ progress, reading fitness quotes, and having reminders of your own goals can help you stay the course, healthy and strong. When you find your “why” you will find your motivation even during these uncertain times.

I offer 3 programs that can be done from home that are published in book format: Fitness from Home, Sweat Like a Boss, and 8 Week Health and Fitness Challenge. You can purchase these on my website at unbrandedme.com/shop. Use code “mustgo” for 50% off all programs!

No matter if you’re just starting out on your fitness journey or need to maintain your gains from many hard-working hours inside the gym – I want you to know that Fitness from Home is possible and enjoyable.

Please continue to join me as we navigate these challenging and changing times together and lets stay healthy, fit, and strong.
